Community Church

Community United Methodist Church, Inc. began with
a joining of Wrights Corner UMC and
Manchester UMC. The Wrights Corner
Church began in 1822. The church had two doors
in the front (one for women/children and one for men).
A large pot-bellied stove provided the heat and oil lamps were
used to light the sanctuary. The Manchester Church was only a
few miles north and on the same circuit.
When attendence dwindled in both churches, members
decided to combine the two churches.
A new church, dedicated Manchester Community
United Methodist Church, Inc. was built in 1968 under
Rev. Samual Devine. Combined, Community UMC
has grown in both spirit and numbers.
The congregation is now trying to incorportate new ideas in
order to reach unchurched members of the community.
They are doing this by holding a Contemporary Worship Service,
women's Bible study, "Helping Hands" projects,
mission events and fellowship dinners.
